Fit and Design
The Garmin Forerunner 25 is available in two sizes: 1.57” x 1.85” and 1.38” x 1.73”, while the Forerunner 35 is only available in one size: 1.397” x 1.6”.
The Forerunner 25 and 35 do not feature a touch screen. They employ a button-based user interface instead, with four buttons: a down scroll arrow, an activity button, a back button, and a backlight button.
While you press any of the buttons, a beep will sound, which may be useful when you’re working out, but you can always turn it off.
The Garmin Forerunner 25 and 35 are both water resistant to a depth of up to 50 meters. They’re also around the same weight, with the Forerunner 35 weighing 37.3g and the big variant of the Forerunner 25 weighing 39g. With a gross weight of 31g, the smaller Forerunner 25 model is the lightest of the three.
Garmin Forerunner 35 was the winner.
Display
The 128p black and white screens of the Garmin Forerunner 25 and 35 are identical. The one on the Forerunner 35, on the other hand, is much brighter. It’s also a little larger, with a diagonal of 0.93” compared to 0.73” on the smallest Forerunner 25 model and 0.91” on the biggest.
While jogging, a simple look at the Garmin Forerunner 35’s display will enough to keep track of your pace, while the Forerunner 25’s display will need you to squint or come to a complete stop to see the data. In addition, the earlier model’s display, particularly the one in the tiny model, may be difficult to see in direct sunlight.
Garmin Forerunner 35 was the winner.
Life of the Batteries
The Garmin Forerunner 25’s small model may survive up to 8 weeks in watch mode, while the big model can last up to 10 weeks. The little model can last for 8 hours in training mode, while the big model can endure for 10 hours.
In comparison to the Forerunner 25, the Garmin Forerunner 35 lags behind in watch mode, lasting just 9 days. That was to be anticipated, given the Forerunner 35’s increased sensor count over its predecessor, but 9 days isn’t bad. Of course, you can extend the life of your battery by turning off GPS and other always-on sensors.
In training mode, however, the Forerunner 35 outlasts the Forerunner 25, lasting up to 13 hours against the Forerunner 25’s 10-hour rating in the big model. The Forerunner 25’s outstanding standby endurance, on the other hand, more than makes up for it.
Garmin Forerunner 25 is the winner.

Sensors and Activity Tracking
The Garmin Forerunner 25 has a lot of shortcomings when it comes to activity monitoring. It can only monitor running activities and provide limited information about your jogs. It should, however, suffice for someone who has just recently begun jogging.
The Garmin Forerunner 35, on the other hand, can monitor a wider range of activities, including running, walking, cycling, and interval training, making it a better match for cross-fitters, bodybuilders, and bikers. You’ll also get sports profiles, which include important information about your performance and development.
Not to mention the Move IQ function on the Forerunner 35, which enables you to effortlessly transition from one activity to the next without having to press any buttons. The watch detects your movement almost immediately and changes to the other activity. It’s also worth mentioning that the Forerunner 35, unlike the Forerunner 25, can monitor exercise intensity.
Heart rate monitoring is another area where the Forerunner 35 outperforms the other model. A chest strap is required to measure your heart rate with the Forerunner 25, which may be unpleasant.
The Forerunner 35 does away with the chest strap in favor of a wrist-based optical heart-rate monitor. Although it is a little sluggish, it is still preferable than the alternative choice, right?
Many Garmin sensors, such as the Garmin Heart Rate Monitor, Garmin Soft Strap Premium HRM, and Garmin Footpad, may be connected to both Forerunner watches.
The Forerunner 35 has a small advantage here since, unlike the Forerunner 25, it can be used with the Garmin Bike Cadence and Speed Sensors. This is due to the fact that the Forerunner 35 has cycle tracking whereas the Forerunner 25 does not.
Finally, both the Forerunner 25 and 35 feature a Move Bar that encourages you to get up and start working out if you’ve been sitting for too long.
Garmin Forerunner 35 was the winner.

User Interface and Software
The user interface of the Garmin Forerunner 25 is very basic, but the good news is that it is really simple to use. Within a day or two of wearing the watch, you’ll be able to figure out how to do everything.
The Forerunner 35’s interface, on the other hand, is a little more polished and has a more contemporary appearance and feel. It may take some time to get familiar with the watch’s capabilities, but once you do, using it on a regular basis will be a breeze.
Not to add that the Forerunner 35 can show three metrics at once, while the Forerunner 25 can only show two.
Garmin Forerunner 35 was the winner.
Price
Because the Garmin Forerunner 35 is the successor to the Forerunner 25, it is more expensive. Although the price difference isn’t significant, you must determine if the added features are worth the extra money.
If you’re on a budget, though, the Forerunner 25 is the obvious victor.
Garmin Forerunner 25 is the winner.

Colors
The Garmin Forerunner 25 comes with four different color schemes:
- Violet and black
- Pink and white
- Blue and black
- Red and black
Keep in mind that the first two are only available in the smaller versions since they’re aimed at ladies, while the other two are only available in the bigger model.
The Garmin Forerunner 35, on the other hand, comes in just two colors: all-black or black and cyan.
With the Forerunner 25, we appreciate that Garmin provides versions that are suitable for ladies. But I’m not clear why they went down a different route with the Forerunner 35.
Garmin Forerunner 25 is the winner.
Alerts
Notifications like as SMS, email, and other alerts are supported on both the Garmin Forerunner 25 and 35. You may also link your watch to Garmin’s Connect smartphone app through Bluetooth Smart. The software also allows you to monitor your position in real time and automatically sync it.
The Garmin Forerunner 35 is an improvement over the Forerunner 25, so it’s no surprise that it has some new technology. The built-in vibration warning is one of the most noticeable improvements, and it’s quite easy to utilize.
When you get a message, call, or other notification, you may configure your smartwatch to vibrate. Not to mention that it may be used to establish sporting goals.
Garmin Forerunner 35 was the winner.
There is music playing.
The Garmin Forerunner 35 also has audio controls, which enable you to manage your smartphone’s music without having to take it out of your pocket. With the push of a button, you can quickly stop, skip, and repeat music while exercising. Unfortunately, the earlier model lacks this function.
Garmin Forerunner 35 was the winner.
Final Verdict: Garmin Forerunner 25 vs. 35
In our Garmin Forerunner 25 vs. 35 comparison, the Garmin Forerunner 35 comes out on top by a significant margin.
It’s understandable since it’s a newer model with additional features and improvements. Music controls, an optical heart-rate sensor, improved activity tracking, sports profiles, and a bigger display are all features that may convince you to buy it.
This isn’t to say that the Forerunner 25 isn’t worth the money. You’ll get less features, but you’ll also save money. We also appreciate that the Forerunner 25 comes in a variety of sizes, making it a more appealing alternative for children and ladies with tiny wrists. It’s also worth mentioning that the Forerunner 25 comes in a wider range of colors.
So, which one do you think you should get? It’s all up to you! But, in a nutshell, the Forerunner 35 has more sophisticated capabilities, while the Forerunner 25 is less expensive and has more size choices.
